How
MEP Made a Difference in My Life
By Joyce Fernandez
I
have been with Mercy Education Project since November 1998. My
personal view of MEP has come from a variety of experiences.
When
I first started the program, I was more or less in a shell. My
confidence level was low. I felt I couldn't achieve in many things.
From the moment I made the decision to commit to MEP, my life
changed for the better.
MEP
has given me a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Ruth. She has and continues
to go out of her way to help me and others succeed, providing we
give her our times.
Mrs.
Ruth has been one big blessing in my life. I took my GED test
in June 2000 and passed four subjects out of five. Mrs. Ruth gave
me the education, confidence, support, and desire to use in reaching
95% of my goal. the team at MEP has given me their time, encouragement,
love, and support. I feel like a new and improved woman.
I am
still attending class at MEP for math. I am learning and striving
to complete my goal. With continuing support from my family andMEP,
and my determination, I will pass the final part of the GED exam.
I plan on giving myself a well deserved birthday present.

After
a couple of rough patches, Joyce successfully passed the remaining
math portion of the GED exam on February 8, 2001. She has continued
her successes and is now attending Wayne County Community College.
