GED Graduate Updates

MEP has helped three new graduates cross the finish line with their GEDs: Angela Dewberry (pictured left), Amanda Damphie (pictured below), and AyJah Greene (pictured right). Bringing the total to 11 GED Graduates so far in 2026.

Angela started in the Women’s Program in late 2023. She loved attending classes at MEP and found it rewarding to encourage her fellow students. After much hard work and determination, she successfully passed all four tests to earn her GED! With high scores on the math and social studies tests, Angela also earned a College Readiness certification.  She’s now pursuing her cosmetology license with a long-term goal of opening her own salon. Angela’s journey at MEP doesn't end with her GED – both her daughter and niece are enrolled in the Girls’ Program and she continues to participate in our Workforce Development Programming, including our recent resume workshop.

Amanda earned her GED in under three months after starting with MEP in November of 2025. She notes shares that the encouragment she received from the staff, especially Revelle Kiss the Women’s Program Coordinator, was the fuel to keep her going. She also offered high praise for instructor Mark Weisenthal (also pictured above), who helped her pass math – her most challenging subject. With her GED in hand, Amanda has expanded her career opportunities and is excited for what comes next.

AyJah enrolled in the Women's Program in July 2025. By earning her GED in under a year, she has accomplished an important milestone for herself and her family. Well done AyJah!
